97 900SS generator upgraded to three phase

I want to upgrade the single-phase generator of my 97 900SS to a three-phase one.

The 98 900SS Final Edition comes with a DENSO three-phase generator.
Looking at the parts list, the 97 SS and 98SS FE have the same parts except for the generator…
After some research, it appears that the parts list is incorrect.

Parts Needed

  • 26420471A Generator DENSO
  • 24220262AB Generator Cover
  • Bolts and nuts to secure the generator
  • Spacer to replace the generator core
  • Other small parts

Procedure

  1. Temporary fitting of parts
  2. Correction of crank length difference
    1. Movement of bearing
    2. Move alternator cover to outside
  3. Correction of generator clearance
    1. Shave generator or cover
  4. External oil line for cylinder cooling
    1. Use sensor hole
    2. Drill new hole and plug sensor hole
