Google Analytics 4 was released in November 2020, and the settings for Google Analytics have changed quite a bit.

As of March 2021, Google Site Kit does not accept GA4 code, so the settings were quite tedious.

  1. Install Google Tag Manager on your site
  2. Generate GA4 code in Google Analytics
  3. Create Google Analytics GA4 setting tags with Google Tag Manager
  4. Create Google Analytics GA4 event tags with Google Tag Manager
  5. Connect to Analytics with Google Site Kit

When you create a new account, if you create both the old Analytics code UA-###### and the GA4 code G-#####, you may be able to use the old plugin without any problems.
